For many people, meditation and exercise are “must-do’s” because the feelings of well being are significant enough to hold onto even if life’s events could make you believe you don’t have time. Another of the best “rocks in the stream” is a regular bedtime and sufficient healthy sleep.

Who do you know who leads a balanced life? What are their habits which support balance? How would you describe your life in terms of balance? What would most improve your balance?

Self-talk often takes the form of what our egos identify as our needs. Deepak Chopra says:

“If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. These are the three things that the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.”

Pause for a moment and think about the implications of a life free of the need to control, to be approved of and to judge. Try just one day to monitor your internal dialogue to determine if you can shift your self-talk each time those dynamics occur.

When William Booth said, “The greatness of a man’s power is the measure of his surrender,” he was talking about the upside of “giving in” to a powerful principle.

Opportunities for surrender often present themselves in one-on-one relationships. When a power struggle occurs and there is a battle for control, the governing principle has often been to force the other to give in.

Can you see places in your life where surrender can be to a noble value like collaboration, teamwork and partnership? Surrendering the ego’s need to be in control is a strategy that produces great results.

Where can you yield or surrender to loyalty, integrity, wisdom, health, love, friendship, hope and optimism?

Who can you stop resisting and begin to embrace through surrender to your core values?

In law, events beyond our control are called “acts of God” or “force majeure.” Working with our topic of starting over, we considered the topic generally . . . then how we can start over ourselves . . . and how we can allow others to start over.

So, today: what about those pesky circumstances beyond our control? And their “first cousins,” the decisions we made long ago that may have continued to “haunt” us to the present. Decisions made by others that have impacted our lives, as we perceive it, negatively. All of these are fuel for lingering regret and remorse if not fully processed.

Starting over means releasing those events, decisions and dynamics. They have already occurred. We can’t un-do the past, but we can start over and assess where we are as regarding these issues.

Today would be an excellent day to put to rest all concern for things that already happened . . . especially long ago . . . so that the day is open to joy. They’re already gone. Start over today!

We want to be able to have a long list at the end of day when we ask, “What brought me joy today?”

Releasing old events, patterns and decisions increases joy . . . AND . . . remember, starting over is a strategic advantage in manifesting the results that you want today!
