Seizing The Opportunities Of Serendipity

Robert Heinlein once described serendipity as “digging for worms and striking oil.”

Are we prepared to seize unexpected opportunities that we come upon while in pursuit of or on track for something else? How open and receptive are we to the unexpected? How ready are we to appreciate serendipity when it arrives?

How do we make sure that our ability to perceive serendipity remains active and alert, even alive, when the demands on our time (those worms that have to be dug!) so often seem to drive out everything but obligations and responsibilities?
